Pressure gates are able to be installed without drilling any holes into the adjacent surfaces. Their obvious benefit is ease of installation and generally lower cost. The downside is that they have a bar which traverses the area though which you walk and, with certain exceptions, a more narrow passageway than would be the case for a hard-mounted gate. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND PRESSURE GATES FOR STAIRWAY LOCATIONS.
