Sturdy mesh retracts into handsome aluminum housing like a window blind when not in use.  Mesh automatically locks into place to create a firm barrier.  A convenient time-delay mechanism keeps the gate unlocked while opening or closing.  Simply push in and turn the latch knob up to 290 degrees (the farther the turn, the more time you have to handle the mesh barrier).  The gate will lock again automatically when the knob rotates back to its starting position. Should you desire extra time, push and turn the knob past 290 degrees and the gate will stay unlocked with no time limitation until you're ready to engage the lock by rotating the knob counter-clockwise.
